How long have you been training for?
I first started weight training at the age of 18 and have not stopped training since then. 11 years later my life is still fitness and always will be!
How long have you been competing for and what are your competition achievements?
I have been competing since 2006. For the first two years I competed as a bikini model with not the greatest success. I always had a dream to become a figure competitor after seeing the girls pump up behind stage at my first show. In 2008 I hit the IFBB stage as a Novice Figure competitor and placed 2nd for WA and then 2nd again for Australia at the National Championships. I then competed in Canada to please in the top 10 for 50 girls at the WBFF World Championships soon realising that my federation was the IFBB. With a passion to get to the top asap I thought that my quick ladder to success would be through competing in Fitness. I won both Figure and Fitness at the IFBB WA titles in 2010 and then placed 2nd in Fitness at the IFBB Australian Championships where I received an invite to the Arnold Classic for 2011. After a surgery I was not fit to compete in Fitness at the Arnolds so I set my sites on the Pro Qualifier at FitX which I placed first and won my pro card.
As an IFBB Professional Figure Professional I have competed in Australia in 2011, 2012 and 2013 all times placing in the top 10. Just recently (May 2013) I have returned from the USA where I competed as an IFBB Figure Professional. I had the most amazing experience on and off the stage, meeting people and enjoying the prestige of the Fitness Industry in the US. After feedback from judges and my coaches I have now decided to make the switch to bikini. Over the past couple of years my shape has changed and I have also found myself more interested in the shape of a bikini model. Excited for the change and my new goals follow me as I now map the journey to the stage as an IFBB Bikini Pro.
What are your goals and what keeps you motivated?
My goal in regards to competing is to make it to the Olympia stage. Other career goals are to make covers of Americas top fitness magazines, inspire others and help others to achieve their goals and feel the self satisfaction of making your dreams a reality. The people around me but more importantly my own success keep me motivated. I want to improve and better myself on the inside and out everyday. I am so passionate about this as I want to inspire and motivate others to live their dreams.
What advice would you give someone getting started?
Set yourself goals, be accountable, get organised and stop making excuses as to why you can't do things. You are the only thing that stands between your goals and achieving them.
