Hi ladies! My name is Ash, and if you don’t know already I am the latest addition to the Muscleworx For Her Team :) I just want to take a few minutes to share with you my story & how I have gotten to be where I am today. Hope you all enjoy!

 

I grew up as an elite gymnast since the age of just 2 years old, so I was aware & educated in regards to health & fitness from a young age. I was training 6 times a week on average but in my 10th year of competing I tore 3 ligaments in my ankle and was off training for some time. In that time I was enjoying being able to catch up with my friends after school and on weekends, and in general just being a normal kid! I soon realised I was missing out on so much things so I decided to quit gymnastics for good.

 

To go from being so disciplined with training & diet, to being able to eat what I wanted took a toll on my mentality, and at the age of 15 I developed two eating disorders, I suffered from both anorexia and bulimia. I ended up in hospital and at my lowest point, I weighed just 35kgs. I put myself through hell mentally and physically to try and become this idea of “perfect”.

 

It took me some time to overcome this illness, and I know I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't for my friends and family. I still carried part of this illness with me for a couple of years after this time, being scared to eat particular foods in fear they would make me gain weight, constantly weighing myself up to 3 times a day, always looking at my reflection picking at bits of myself that I need to improve on.

 

It was when I was 19 that I started glamour/bikini modelling and this helped me to gain confidence in myself and helped me to learn that to feel and look good on stage and at photoshoots that I needed to really take care of my body the HEALTHY way by eating nutritious foods and exercising regularly. I had experience with training and diet from gymnastics, but it wasn't until I was 20 that I met my now fiance, Mickey that I became more educated with weight training, clean eating, supplements, food preparation, nutritional information, clean recipes, and weight issues. I am so lucky to have met someone that shares the same passion as me, and that we can encourage each other on a daily basis.

I have been weight training for just over a year now, and can proudly say I have gained 6kgs in that time. Why proudly? Because it is 6kgs of muscle which has given me the curves and shape that I have been aiming for. I am stronger, fitter and healthier than I have EVER been in my entire life and couldn't be happier to officially become a part of such an inspirational group of young ladies and call myself a Muscle Worx For Her Girl. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing YOU are the reason that someone started their fitness journey, or that they didn't give up on that particular day because YOU helped motivate and encourage them to keep going.

 

The current Muscleworx For Her Girls have been my role models and inspiration through my journey so far, they have taught me that with a positive mindset & attitude and if you surround yourself with positive people that you can achieve any goal that you set for yourself. My perspective of a healthy body image has definitely changed.  I now aim to be fit, strong, and healthy NOT skinny and I want to teach woman that perfection does not exist, so to aim for such an impossible thing can be very damaging both mentally and physically. Your only competition should be YOU, always aim to better yourself, and pay no mind to the “haters” they aren't worth your time and focus.

 

I am so glad to share my passion for health & fitness with everyone, and hope to inspire many woman from all over the world. TEAM MUSCLEWORX FOR HER!!!
